This March, we celebrate stories of women overcoming obstacles and achieving triumphs. Among these inspiring figures is Evelyn LapeΓ±a Macalino of the Light Rail Transit Authority, known fondly as “Tita Evie.” But who is she, and what’s #HERstory?

Tita Evie, as affectionately called by her employees, embodies the genuine relationships she fosters in the workplace. With 41 years of dedicated service at LRTA, she currently holds the position of division manager of accounting, contributing significantly to the organization’s growth.

Her journey began with humble ambitions rooted in the desire to provide a better life for her family. Starting as a clerk in 1983, Tita Evie faced various challenges on her path to success. Despite the demands of her work, she persevered, even finding time to study for the board exam. In 1988, she achieved her dream of becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Tita Evie stands as a testament to the fact that women can thrive in leadership roles. In a male-dominated field like transportation, she earned the respect of her colleagues through her relentless dedication and commitment.

“Women can make significant contributions in any industry they choose to work in,” she remarked.

As we observe International Women’s Month, Tita Evie’s journey serves as a beacon of success, showcasing women’s leadership at its finest.
