The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has formalized a partnership with Alpha Distinct Development Solutions, Inc. (Alpha DDSI) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Monday, June 16, 2025, for the Maboteng Gawain Circularity Program across LRT Line 2 stations.

The MOA was signed at the LRT- 2 Depot in Pasig City by LRTA Administrator Hernando T. Cabrera and Alpha DDSI’s Authorized Representative, Michelle Bautista-Taňada.

This comprehensive plastic waste recovery initiative includes the strategic placement of segregation bins for plastic bottle caps and PET bottles throughout LRTA premises, covering both indoor and outdoor areas. Furthermore, the partnership will feature information, education, and communication campaigns utilizing signage and audio-visual infomercials to promote proper waste segregation and recycling practices among LRT Line 2 commuters.

The program seeks to actively involve passengers and the wider community in managing plastic waste, fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility through accessible and effective recycling solutions. An incentive program for LRTA employees will also be introduced to encourage participation.

“This MOA signifies LRTA’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Cabrera. “Through this partnership, we aim to make recycling a convenient and habitual part of our passengers’ daily routines, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable transportation system.”
