A total of 787,284 passengers availed the four-day Libreng Sakay initiative by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in celebration of National Labor Day. The Libreng Sakay program, which ran from April 30 to May 3, aimed to provide transportation relief to Filipino workers in honor of their contributions.

LRT Line 2 System recorded impressive daily ridership figures: 208,430 passengers on April 30 (Wednesday), 156,490 on May 1 (Thursday), 234,888 on May 2 (Friday), and 187,476 on May 3 (Saturday). Notably, May 2 achieved the highest daily ridership, setting a new post-pandemic record for the line.

“The ridership numbers highlight the public’s appreciation for the Libreng Sakay program and underscore its significance as a Labor Day gift to Filipino workers,” said LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera. “The program effectively provided transportation relief while demonstrating our system’s capacity to efficiently accommodate increased passenger demand. We are proud to support our workers in this way, and we will continue to explore initiatives that enhance public transportation access for all.”
