The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has been honored for its dedicated efforts in supporting the welfare of senior citizen passengers on the LRT-2.

On Wednesday, June 25, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) awarded the LRTA a Certificate of Appreciation at the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City.
Alongside the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Cultural Center of the Philippines, and National Housing Authority, the LRTA was one of five agencies recognized for outstanding contributions to enhancing senior citizen welfare. These agencies were selected for their impressive achievements and innovative plans to improve the lives of senior citizens nationwide.
“This recognition from the NCSC affirms our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in our transport system,” said LRTA Administrator Hernando T. Cabrera. “Our key initiatives include issuing Concessionary Cards, establishing Special Boarding areas for priority passengers—including senior citizens—at all stations, and designating the first car of each train as a priority zone. Additionally, we have created the Mobility, Inclusivity, and Accessibility Committee to constantly enhance our services.”
Administrator Cabrera emphasized the LRTA’s commitment to continual improvements: “We will maintain awareness and sensitivity training for our frontline personnel, keep active engagement with the LRTA MIA Committee, and pursue continuous enhancements to better serve senior citizens and other priority passengers.”
