The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), in collaboration with the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and other government agencies, recently conducted an accessibility audit of the LRT-2 Antipolo Station.

Led by the NCDA’s Sub-Committee on Access, Built Environment, and Transportation (SCABET), the comprehensive audit was carried out in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Antipolo. LRTA’s Mobility Inclusivity Accessibility Committee provided technical support throughout the process.

The team evaluated the station facilities, including entrances, ramps,  ticket booth restrooms, elevators, emergency exits, pathfinding tactiles, and boarding access.

Following the audit, stakeholders convened to review the findings and discuss potential improvements to enhance accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

“This initiative underscores LRTA’s commitment to fulfilling legal mandates and promoting inclusive public transportation,” said LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera. “We are dedicated to providing safe and accessible train services for every passenger.”

This accessibility audit is part of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and LRTA’s ongoing efforts to ensure equal access across the rail network and foster a truly inclusive transportation system.

By prioritizing accessibility enhancements, LRTA aims to improve mobility, independence, and the overall quality of life for all passengers, ensuring that no one is left behind in public transportation services.
