The Light Rail Transit Authority joins the nation in celebrating National Women’s Month this March 2023 with the theme “We for gender equality and inclusive society.”

The LRTA prepared exciting activities in line with the theme of the celebration. LRTA female employees were encouraged to wear purple every Wednesday to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Female workers who perform jobs primarily by men, like train driving, engineering, station tellers, and cashiers, are featured on the LRTA social media sites.

The LRTA also allocated stalls at Recto station where female employees can sell products like bed sheets, blankets, pillowcases, milk tea, imported goods, and pasalubongs. This initiative aims to provide a platform for employees to showcase their products and sell them to commuters.

As a culminating activity, the GAD Committee distributed lanyards with flashlights, ball pens, and fans to commuters at LRT-2 select stations. GAD also set up a “Tree of Quote” at Antipolo Station where passengers can write their messages for Women’s Month.
