The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has streamlined its ticketing process to make it quicker and more convenient for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to avail of the 50% fare discount on LRT-2.
During an inspection at LRT-2 Antipolo station on Wednesday, August 13, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced that the form-filling requirement for passengers availing discounts on MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 has been abolished. This move aims to save time, simplify transactions, and enhance overall commuter experience.

Eligible passengers now only need to present a valid ID at Passenger Assistance Office (PAO)/ Teller booths when purchasing Single Journey Tickets (SJTs), significantly reducing processing time and queues. For concessionary Beep cards, existing Senior Citizens and PWDs can continue using their current cards, while a new concessionary student card will be available starting September.
Af Payments Inc., the contractor for Beep Cards, will establish application booths for concessionary student cards at LRT-2 stations beginning September.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will also coordinate with the Commission on Audit (COA) to explore digital solutions for information gathering, supporting the government’s modernization and efficiency initiatives.
The LRTA reaffirmed its commitment to providing accessible, passenger-friendly services, emphasizing that the simplified discount process is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a smoother commuting experience for all.
