The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) conducted a two-day seminar on Materials Management and Inventory Control for Mass Transport Operations on March 5–6, 2026, at the Social Hall, Line 2 Depot, Santolan, Pasig City. The training, attended by forty-three (43) LRTA personnel, was facilitated by Engr. Cezar S. De La Cruz, MFSM, ASEAN Eng, FPIChE, a training and manufacturing consultant.
The seminar aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of LRTA personnel in effective market research, demand forecasting, inventory management, stock coding, re-ordering systems, warehousing operations, and supply chain management. It also sought to strengthen LRTA’s supply chain operations by ensuring that the right materials, supplies, and needed spare parts are available to support safe and efficient train operations while minimizing waste, delays, and operational risks. Through this program, participants gained practical tools and strategies to improve inventory control, reduce losses due to overstocking or stock-outs, and enhance accountability and monitoring systems. Efficient materials management is crucial for LRTA, as it directly impacts operational reliability, passenger service quality, and public trust.
