The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) joins the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in supporting Republic Act (RA) 9003, also known as the Solid Waste Management Act. Led by the General Services Division under the supervision of GSD Manager Pepito Aranzaso, LRTA actively implements waste reduction and the recycling of materials from trackworks.

Used walkway materials from Revenue Line 2 are repurposed as perimeter fencing at the Line 2 Depot, giving new life to previously utilized infrastructure materials. In addition, used soft drink bottles are being converted into plant containers in support of the government’s Greening Program.

Through these simple yet impactful initiatives, waste generation is reduced and public funds are conserved, demonstrating that “money saved is money earned.”
