The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has taken significant steps to reinforce its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable operations. Personnel from the LRTA have undergone comprehensive trainings accredited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), ensuring full compliance with national environmental regulations.

These trainings provided LRTA teams with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively monitor, manage, and continuously improve the Authority’s environmental performance.

As part of this initiative, LRTA has successfully secured Discharge Permits for the Line 2 Depot and its 11 stations (while DP for J. Ruiz and Recto stations are on process), in accordance with the requirements of the Philippine Clean Water Act (Republic Act 9275) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations. These permits authorize LRTA facilities to discharge treated wastewater that meets LLDA standards—upholding the highest level of environmental responsibility.
Through regular monitoring, documentation, and coordination with regulatory bodies, LRTA continues to strengthen its compliance systems. These efforts safeguard public health, protect vital water resources, and support sustainable operations across all stations.

This milestone reflects LRTA’s unwavering dedication to environmental protection and its role in promoting responsible urban transit operations for the benefit of commuters and communities alike.
