As part of its continuing commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) through its Special Events Committee conducted a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity at Guanella Home for Special Children on December 15, 2025.

During the activity, LRTA employees donated a wide range of essential supplies to support the daily needs of the children and the facility. These donations included rice, canned goods, eggs, milk, frozen foods, cooking oil, condiments, cleaning aids, and other household necessities. In addition, LRTA also brought prepared food to be shared with both the children and the dedicated volunteers of Guanella Home, making the day more festive and meaningful for everyone involved.

In return, the children of Guanella Home prepared a heartwarming program as a gesture of gratitude. Members of LRTA’s Special Events Committee were treated to a series of dance and song performances, highlighted not only the talents of the children but also their resilience, joy, and appreciation for the support they receive.

Guanella Home for Special Children is a facility devoted to the care of abandoned individuals with diverse disabilities. Many of its residents have lived at the center for most of their lives, with some having been under its care since childhood. Each resident has a unique story—some were found abandoned in public places, while others were brought to the home by relatives or acquaintances who were unable to provide long-term care. Currently, Guanella Home is home to 18 children, all of whom receive continuous care, support, and guidance from the institution’s staff and volunteers.

“At LRTA, our mission is not only to deliver safe and reliable service to our passengers, but also to extend help and compassion to the communities we serve. Through initiatives like this, we hope to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said.

Through activities such as this CSR initiative, LRTA reaffirms its dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities and fostering meaningful connections beyond transportation services.
