In celebration of Labor Day, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) provided free rides to 34,961 passengers of LRT Line 2 on May 1, 2026, as part of its recognition of the important role of Filipino workers in nation-building.

The libreng sakay was implemented during peak hours, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, offering relief to thousands of commuters.

LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera emphasized that the program serves as a meaningful expression of appreciation for the dedication, resilience, and contributions of Filipino workers across various sectors.

He added that the free ride initiative was implemented smoothly across all LRT Line 2 stations, ensuring safe, orderly, and convenient travel for passengers throughout the designated hours.

LRTA reaffirms its commitment to providing reliable and commuter-centered services, while continuing to support initiatives that uplift and recognize the Filipino workforce.
