
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has been recognized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) for its exceptional commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment through its 2024 Gender and Development (GAD) Budget implementation.
LRTA achieved a remarkable milestone by ranking 10th among Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) with the highest client-focused GAD Budget expenditure. This recognition highlights the authority’s consistent allocation and effective utilization of GAD funds, positioning itself among the top agencies committed to promoting gender-responsive budgeting in government.
The award recognizes LRTA’s exemplary leadership, accountability, and inclusive governance in implementing gender-responsive and organization-focused programs, activities, and projects. This achievement demonstrates the agency’s concrete impact in creating safer, more accessible transportation services for women across Metro Manila while advancing workplace gender equality within the organization.
LRTA Administrator Hernando T. Cabrera expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that this award serves as motivation for LRTA to maintain its efforts in gender-responsive budgeting.
