The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has successfully passed the first two quarterly ambient air quality and noise measurements conducted at LRT Line 2 Revenue Line and LRT-2 Depot. The third-quarter sampling conducted from September 2-5, 2025, and the fourth-quarter sampling conducted on November 6-7 and 12, 2025, both met all parameters set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

These tests form part of the Authority’s compliance  with Republic Act 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999) and Presidential Decree No. 984 (National Pollution Decree of 1976), along with their respective implementing rules and regulations. These mandated tests ensure that the transit system maintains environmental standards while serving thousands of commuters daily.

DENR-accredited third-party service provider Optimal Laboratories Inc. conducted the comprehensive air and noise quality assessments. The tests consists of four quarterly samplings throughout the year, with the third sampling scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 and the fourth sampling planned for the second quarter of 2026.

“We are pleased with these results as they serve as testament to LRTA’s continuous efforts to ensure our services remain compliant with existing environmental laws,” said LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera. “We are confident that we will also pass the remaining tests scheduled for next year.”

These successful assessments reflect LRTA’s commitment to its vision of being the leading authority for construction, operations, and maintenance of LRT Systems that enable safe, comfortable, and sustainable transportation in the Philippines. The results demonstrate the agency’s mission to enhance people mobility and provide world-class light rail transport systems that are sensitive, inclusive, and committed to service excellence.
