The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has partnered with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), an attached agency of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), to promote child protection and welfare through the rollout of information and awareness initiatives across LRT Line 2 System stations. The initiative was discussed during a coordination meeting held on April 21, 2026.

During the meeting, both LRTA and CWC finalized the dissemination and implementation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials promoting the Makabata Helpline 1383 within LRTA premises. These include posters, tarpaulins, and video materials aimed at increasing public awareness on child protection services.

The IEC materials will be displayed and broadcasted in high-traffic LRT Line 2 System stations, including Antipolo Station, Marikina-Pasig Station, Araneta Center-Cubao Station, and Recto Station, to ensure wider reach among commuters.

The meeting was spearheaded by Ma. Rosella O. Hugo, Division Manager A and Chairperson of the Committee on Protection, Safety, and Welfare of Children. Also present were Divina J. Guison, Project Manager; John S. Buenaventura, Manager, Train Operations Division; Gil Carlos J. Monteclaro, OIC, Station and Operations Division; Trinidad Singh, Public Relations Officer B; Jesson Luis S. Tamondong, Public Relations Officer III; and Remer D. Cuarez, Public Relations Officer I, all from the Public Relations Division, along with CWC representatives Rozald Domingo, Roanna Cathrise Cabalonga, and Menard Ilagan.

Both LRTA and CWC also discussed potential future collaborations, including the conduct of trainings and seminars for LRTA personnel to further promote the welfare and protection of children who use LRT Line 2 System.
