The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is giving commuters a breath of fresh air by actively maintaining the green spaces on the bridge linking LRT-2’s Recto Station and LRT-1’s Doroteo Jose Station.

This initiative, led by the LRTA General Services Division, under the supervision of Mr. Pepito Aranzaso, GSD Manager, was undertaken following a nearby fire that affected portions of the Recto walkway. It was carried out alongside the replacement of the roofing system at the Recto Link Bridge, which began on May 29, 2023. 

As part of the initiative, LRTA personnel regularly maintain the plants. They conduct replanting activities at the LRTA depot and replace plants along the walkway as needed to ensure the greenery remains healthy and vibrant.

Beyond restoring the affected area, the initiative highlights LRTA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and commuter well-being by creating a cleaner, cooler, and more welcoming passageway for the thousands of passengers who use the interconnection daily.
