The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has successfully renewed the Discharge Permits of LRT Line 2 stations and the Line 2 Depot for Calendar Year (CY) 2026, reaffirming its commitment to responsible environmental management and regulatory compliance.

The renewed permits cover the LRT 2 stations of Recto, Legarda, Pureza, V. Mapa, Gilmore, Betty Go-Belmonte, Araneta Center-Cubao, Anonas, Katipunan, Santolan, Marikina-Pasig, and Antipolo, as well as the Line 2 Depot. Issued by the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), the permits authorize the discharge of treated wastewater subject to established environmental standards and monitoring requirements.

The permit renewals reflect LRTA’s continued implementation of effective wastewater management practices across its facilities. Through regular monitoring, proper operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems, and adherence to prescribed effluent standards, LRTA helps ensure that wastewater discharges remain within regulatory limits and do not adversely affect surrounding water resources.

As part of the permit conditions, the LRTA will continue conducting self-monitoring activities, maintaining wastewater treatment facilities, and submitting the required environmental reports to regulatory agencies. These measures support LRTA’s efforts to integrate environmental responsibility into its daily operations while providing safe and reliable public transportation services.

The successful renewal of the Discharge Permits for CY 2026 underscores LRTA’s dedication to sustainable operations and compliance with environmental regulations, contributing to the protection and preservation of the environment for future generations.
