The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) reported a total of 118 officials, coaches, staff, athletes, and event volunteers who availed of free rides on LRT Line 2 during the WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex from January 26 to 31, 2026. The ridership is part of LRTA’s support for the country’s hosting of its first-ever WTA 125 tournament.

LRTA extended free rides to accredited tournament officials and participants to ensure safe, efficient, and convenient travel throughout the event. Beneficiaries presented their official accreditation IDs at LRT Line 2 stations, with the free ride available during regular operating hours, while standard security and station rules remained in effect.

This initiative reflects LRTA’s mission to enhance people mobility and provide a world-class light rail transport system that is sensitive, inclusive, and committed to service excellence. Through this effort, LRTA helped ease the travel of tournament participants and demonstrated the government’s support for sports development in the country.
