The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) proudly announces its participation in Earth Hour 2026 on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at 8:30 PM, joining millions worldwide in switching off non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness on climate change and energy conservation.
For LRTA, this initiative is not merely symbolic—it reflects the LRTA main goal of advancing sustainability and energy efficiency in public transport operations. By encouraging all 1,443 personnel to switch off lights in their homes, ensuring non-essential lights in LRTA offices and facilities are turned off, and sharing advocacy materials through official platforms, LRTA demonstrates its commitment to cultivating lasting habits that protect communities and the planet.
This year’s theme, “Switch On Habits for Earth,” underscores the importance of daily sustainable practices and renewed commitment, particularly among the youth, to protect our planet. LRTA’s involvement highlights its dedication to climate responsibility and its role in encouraging commuters, employees, and communities to take small but meaningful steps toward long-term environmental stewardship.
