The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) proudly joins the nation in commemorating the 19th World Autism Awareness Day, in line with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/62/139 declaring April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day.

This year’s theme, “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” highlights the importance of recognizing the dignity, rights, and contributions of persons with autism, while promoting inclusion and equal participation in society.

Since April 2, 2026 coincides with Holy Thursday, the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), in coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), has encouraged all stakeholders to commemorate WAAD during the week of April 6 to 10, 2026.

By joining this celebration, LRTA reaffirms its commitment to disability rights, inclusivity, and accessibility in public transport, ensuring that every passenger regardless of ability feels valued and supported.

This commitment is reflected in LRTA’s ongoing initiatives to improve station accessibility, enhance commuter assistance services, and strengthen partnerships with organizations advocating for persons with disabilities.
