The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announces its active participation in the 2026 National Anti-Trafficking Awareness Month (NATAM) and the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDATIP) on July 30, 2026, in support of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Anchored on Republic Act No. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended) and Proclamation No. 1180 (s. 2021), this year’s campaign carries the theme:

“Iisang Nasyon, Iisang Aksyon: Tapusin ang Human Trafficking Ngayon!”

Human trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, often hidden in plain sight through fraudulent recruitment, online exploitation, and forced labor schemes. As a frontline commuter system, LRTA is uniquely positioned to amplify awareness, protect vulnerable groups, and mobilize communities against trafficking. By joining NATAM and WDATIP, LRTA demonstrates that public transport is not only about mobility—it is also about safety, vigilance, and advocacy for human dignity.
