The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) marked the start of National Children’s Month (NCM) with a one- day free ride for children and youth below 18 years of age on November 3, 2025, and the recitation of the Panatang Makabata during the Monday flag-raising ceremony.

In collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), LRTA will conduct various activities throughout the month of November to promote awareness of children’s rights and welfare. NCM banners and audio-video materials will be displayed across all LRT-2 stations, while the NCM jingle will be played in stations. Employees will continue reciting the Panatang Makabata during flag-raising ceremonies every Monday and are encouraged to wear blue attire every Friday in November to show solidarity with the observance.

“Our Committee on Child Protection, Safety, and Welfare has lined up several activities to celebrate National Children’s Month,” said Administrator Atty. Hernando T. Cabrera. “Together, let us work for the children. LRTA is committed to protecting the rights, safety, and future of our youth.”

Through these activities, LRTA reaffirms its dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and caring environment for children and youth.

National Children’s Month is celebrated every November under Republic Act No. 10661, which commemorates the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) by the United Nations on November 20, 1989. This year’s theme, “Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) at Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, calls on all sectors to work together in protecting children’s rights and ensuring their safety in both digital and physical spaces.
