The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), through its Train Operations Division (TOD) and the Operations Control Center (OCC), conducted a Joint Tabletop Exercise from January 26 to 30 and February 2 to 6, 2025 at the TCD Office, aimed at enhancing coordination and operational readiness among key train operations personnel.
The activity brought together 85 Line Dispatchers, Train Drivers, and OCC personnel who participated in scenario-based discussions designed to reinforce proper coordination and communication procedures during operational incidents. The exercise focused on strengthening response protocols in situations involving train faults and other service disruptions on the mainline.
Throughout the sessions, participants reviewed and practiced essential operational procedures such as timely incident reporting to the OCC, verification of train status, coordinated response actions among operational teams, and the delivery of clear and accurate passenger announcements during service interruptions.
The discussions and scenario assessments were facilitated by Train Drivers and Assessors Grace Cayetano, Leoval Robles, and Carlos Valdez Jr., together with Rubb Louie Ongkingco, Transport Operations Services Chief B, who guided participants through the operational decision-making process and emphasized the importance of effective communication in maintaining safe and efficient train operations.
By conducting regular operational drills and capability-building activities, LRTA ensures that its personnel remain prepared to respond effectively to operational challenges while maintaining safe and reliable service for the riding public.
