The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) conducted a bloodletting activity at LRT Line 2 Recto Station on January 13, 2026, in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross -National Blood Center Manila. The initiative aimed to support the shared advocacy of saving lives and alleviating human suffering through voluntary blood donation.

The activity was held in response to the critical need for blood supply during January, which is considered one of the lean months for blood donation. Blood reserves usually decline during the holiday season as many offices, schools, and organizations are unable to conduct donation drives due to holidays and work from home arrangements.
LRTA personnel and passengers actively participated in the activity, demonstrating solidarity and commitment to humanitarian service. The bloodletting drive provided an accessible venue for commuters and employees to contribute to a life saving cause while observing the requirements for safe blood donation.

Through this activity, the LRTA reaffirmed its support for humanitarian initiatives and its partnership with the Philippine Red Cross. The Authority encourages continued public participation in blood donation activities as a simple yet meaningful way to help save lives.
