The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) conducted its monthly inspection of rescue and evacuation equipment for February 2026 as part of its continuing efforts to ensure passenger safety, operational readiness, and service reliability.
The activity, spearheaded by Mr. Jimmy L. Chua, Manager of the Safety and Security Division, covered the assessment and testing of emergency and rescue equipment deployed across LRT Line 2. It was carried out in accordance with the agency’s Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP), reinforcing LRTA’s proactive approach to safety and preparedness.
The inspection forms part of LRTA’s regular maintenance and emergency readiness measures to ensure that all equipment remains functional and readily available during critical situations.

Under the PSCP, particularly Section XIII on Testing and Maintenance of the Plan, the conduct of periodic functional exercises is required to evaluate the condition, reliability, and responsiveness of essential emergency resources.
The monthly inspection underscores LRTA’s commitment to effective risk mitigation, uninterrupted public service, and the protection of passengers, personnel, and assets. By institutionalizing these regular safety checks, the Authority continues to strengthen its emergency preparedness while maintaining safe, reliable, and resilient rail operations.
