The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Committee, successfully conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) with the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Functionality Assessment Tool (GFAST) on 22 July 2026 via Zoom. The activity was attended by 22 GAD Committee members, composed of 7 male and 15 female participants, as part of LRTA’s continuing commitment to fostering a gender-responsive, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
The Gender Sensitivity Training aimed to enhance participants’ awareness, knowledge, and skills in recognizing and addressing gender-related issues in the workplace. It highlighted the impact of gender stereotypes, societal norms, and unconscious biases on interpersonal relationships, organizational policies, and equal opportunities, while promoting fairness, respect, and inclusivity in the workplace.
The session also featured an orientation on the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) Functionality Assessment Tool (GFAST), a key mechanism used to assess the effectiveness of an organization’s Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) in mainstreaming gender and development initiatives. GFAST serves as an important tool in strengthening institutional capacity, accountability, and compliance with national gender and development policies.
During the training, participants engaged in discussions on gender concepts, gender roles and stereotypes, gender-based discrimination, and the laws and policies that uphold and protect the rights of all individuals. The interactive session encouraged meaningful dialogue and self-reflection, enabling participants to better appreciate the role of gender sensitivity in cultivating a positive organizational culture and delivering more responsive public service.
The activity reaffirmed LRTA’s commitment to integrating Gender and Development (GAD) principles into its programs, policies, and operations. By continuously building the capacity of its personnel, the Authority ensures that its workforce remains equipped with the knowledge, values, and competencies necessary to promote equality, inclusivity, and respect in the workplace.
Through initiatives such as the Gender Sensitivity Training, LRTA continues to advance gender-responsive governance and strengthen its vision of creating a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, empowered, and given equal opportunities to thrive.
