The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has successfully completed its second quarter ambient air and noise quality monitoring for 2026, with results confirming that environmental conditions across all LRT-2 stations and depot facilities remain within national standards.

Conducted from May 6 to 8, 2026, the monitoring activity forms part of LRTA’s regular quarterly environmental monitoring program aimed at ensuring a safe and healthy environment for commuters, employees, and stakeholders throughout the LRT-2 system.

The assessment covered all stations along the LRT-2 revenue line, as well as key operational areas within the LRT-2 Depot. Ambient air quality and noise levels were measured to evaluate compliance with environmental regulations and to monitor the impact of rail operations on surrounding areas.

To ensure accuracy, impartiality, and regulatory compliance, the monitoring was carried out by Optimal Laboratories Inc., a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-accredited third-party service provider. The field monitoring team was led by Engr. Jairus M. Tada, Field Engineer, with the assistance of Field Technicians Mr. Darrel A. Aranda and Mr. Ireneo Vergara.

Monitoring results showed that ambient air quality and noise levels throughout LRT-2 facilities remained within the limits prescribed by national environmental standards. The findings indicate that LRTA’s environmental management measures continue to be effective in controlling operational emissions and noise while maintaining safe conditions within station and depot premises.

The activity was conducted in compliance with Republic Act No. 8749, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999, and Presidential Decree No. 984, or the National Pollution Control Decree of 1976.

As part of its commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible operations, LRTA will continue to conduct regular environmental monitoring activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to promote the welfare of the riding public.
