The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has successfully relocated the remaining thirty (30) qualified Informal Settler Families (ISFs) affected by the LRT Line 1 South (Cavite) Extension Project, clearing another key milestone in the government’s efforts to deliver faster, safer, and more reliable rail services to commuters while ensuring that affected families transition to their new homes with dignity and support.

The relocation was conducted on July 9 from Barangay Zapote III in Bacoor City to the LRTA Relocation Site in Barangay Santiago, General Trias City. The activity was carried out in an orderly, peaceful, and safe manner through the collaborative efforts of the LRTA, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Provincial Government of Cavite, the City Governments of Bacoor and General Trias, concerned national government agencies, law enforcement authorities, and other stakeholders.

As part of the LRTA Relocation Program, each beneficiary family received transportation and hauling assistance, three meal packs, and livelihood financial assistance amounting to ₱18,000. The City Government of Bacoor likewise extended grocery packs, ambulance services, and police assistance to support the relocation activity.

Upon arriving at the relocation site, the families were welcomed by representatives of the Provincial Government of Cavite, the City Government of General Trias, and Barangay Santiago. They were officially accepted as new constituents of General Trias City and oriented on the rules and regulations of the LRTA Relocation Site. They were also introduced to the available facilities and services within the community, including school buildings, a multi-purpose hall, a covered court, prepaid Meralco electricity connections, local water service connections, and livelihood and community support programs to help them rebuild their lives.

Engr. Joseph Dexter S. Buenconsejo, Officer-in-Charge and Project Manager of the LRTA PMO – Line 1 South Extension, expressed his appreciation to the beneficiary families for their voluntary relocation and continued support for the LRT Line 1 South (Cavite) Extension Project. He also reaffirmed LRTA’s commitment to supporting their smooth transition and continued welfare in their new community.
