Emergency preparedness requires continuous effort long before an incident occurs. As part of its ongoing commitment to passenger safety, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) completed its June inspection of rescue and evacuation equipment to ensure that critical emergency resources across the LRT-2 system remain operational and ready for deployment when needed.

Regular inspections are an essential component of the agency’s preventive safety measures, helping ensure that emergency equipment remains dependable before being called into service. By routinely verifying the condition of rescue and evacuation resources, the LRTA strengthens its emergency response capability and reinforces the safe and reliable operation of LRT-2.

During the June inspection, trained safety personnel examined rescue and evacuation equipment to verify its operational condition, completeness, and serviceability. Any issues identified during the activity were promptly documented and endorsed for corrective action, allowing the agency to address potential deficiencies before they could affect emergency preparedness. The inspection forms part of the LRTA’s Public Service Continuity Plan (PSCP), specifically Section XIII, which requires the regular testing and maintenance of emergency response resources. These inspections also enable the agency to monitor equipment performance over time and ensure that rescue tools remain compliant with operational and safety requirements.

Through sustained preventive maintenance and emergency preparedness initiatives, the LRTA continues to strengthen its capacity to respond to unforeseen incidents while safeguarding passengers, personnel, and railway assets. The agency remains committed to maintaining a safe, resilient, and reliable railway system through proactive measures that support uninterrupted public service.
