Fourteen (14) personnel from the Engineering and Maintenance Transition Team (MTT) of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) participated in the End-User Training on the Operation of the Wheel Profile Measuring Device (RIFTEK) conducted on June 17–18, 2026 at the MOW, Line 2 Depot, Santolan, Pasig City, facilitated by Mega Asia Trading Corporation.

The training was conducted as part of the procurement requirement to provide capability-building interventions for all identified end-users to ensure their competency in the proper operation of the Wheel Profile Measuring Device (RIFTEK). The equipment is used to measure and monitor wheel profile conditions of LRTA rolling stock. Accurate wheel profile assessment plays a vital role in maintaining vehicle performance, ensuring passenger safety, minimizing wheel and rail wear, and supporting reliable railway operations.

During the training, participants were oriented on the equipment specifications, operating procedures, measurement techniques, interpretation of collected data, and proper handling and maintenance of the device. Actual demonstrations and hands-on exercises were likewise conducted to familiarize end-users with the equipment and facilitate its effective integration into regular inspection and maintenance activities.

The conduct of the training supports LRTA’s continuing efforts to enhance technical competencies, strengthen predictive and preventive maintenance practices, and sustain safe, efficient, and dependable rail transport services for the commuting public.
