As part of its commitment to providing safe, inclusive, and accessible public transportation, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) conducted the first batch of the 2026 Disability Sensitivity Training: Awareness on the Proper Management and Handling of Passengers, particularly Persons with Disabilities on July 28, 2026, via Zoom.
Conducted in support of the training requirements of the LRTA Mobility, Inclusivity, and Accessibility Committee, the training aimed to enhance the awareness and sensitivity of LRTA frontline and core service personnel regarding the rights of persons with disabilities and the proper assistance and handling of passengers with disabilities using the LRT Line 2 System.

The first batch was attended by 226 LRTA personnel from various offices and was facilitated by Ms. Jona Mae L. Ortega, Planning Officer III of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA). While the Disability Sensitivity Training has been conducted annually, this year’s program will be implemented in succeeding batches with the goal of ensuring that all LRTA personnel who have not yet attended the training are given the opportunity to participate. Through this initiative, LRTA continues to strengthen the capacity of its workforce to provide respectful, responsive, and inclusive service to all passengers, particularly persons with disabilities.
