The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) reinforces its commitment to passenger safety and reliable service through daily foot patrols along the LRT-2 viaduct. On October 28, Administrator Atty. Hernando T. Cabrera joined the inspection from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with personnel from the Tracks Team and Power Catenary Team.
The group walked from the Reversing Tracks of Recto to Pureza Station, passing through Recto and Legarda Stations. Administrator Cabrera explained that the regular patrols play a vital role in maintaining system integrity. “Through these foot patrols, our technical teams can immediately detect and evaluate any concern that may affect train operations. It is a pre-emptive and proactive exercise to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted train operations,” Administrator Cabrera said.
During the inspection, personnel checked the power cables, rail tracks, and nearby areas such as trees and buildings under construction that could pose potential risks. The Tracks and Power Catenary personnel conduct these inspections daily, during on-going train revenue operations, to identify and address potential problems before they affect operations.
“We will continue implementing strict inspection and maintenance activities to ensure the safety and reliability of LRT Line 2 operations,” Administrator Cabrera said.
Cabrera also commended the engineers and maintenance workers for their discipline and dedication, saying their consistent effort keeps the LRT-2 safe and dependable for commuters.
