Nineteen (19) participants from the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) participated in the 2026 ASEAN Railway Conference (RAILCON) held on June 18–19, 2026 via online platform. The conference was hosted by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), through the Philippine Railways Institute (PRI), in partnership with the Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP) and supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the Philippines’ initiatives under the ASEAN 2026 Chairship.

The conference served as a regional knowledge-sharing and collaboration platform that gathered railway professionals, industry experts, policymakers, and transport stakeholders across ASEAN to discuss emerging developments, best practices, innovations, and strategic directions in the railway sector.
The activity covered discussions on railway operations and maintenance, transport planning, railway safety and risk management, sustainability initiatives, digital transformation, infrastructure modernization, and other developments shaping the future of rail transport within the ASEAN region. It also provided participants with opportunities to exchange insights and learn from regional experiences and approaches in addressing current and future challenges in railway systems.

Through participation in the conference, LRTA participants gained updated knowledge and broader perspectives relevant to the Authority’s continuing initiatives toward improving operational efficiency, strengthening institutional and technical capacities, and supporting the modernization and enhancement of railway services.
The conference supports LRTA’s commitment to continuous learning, regional engagement, and the adoption of innovative and sustainable practices to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient public rail transport services for the commuting public.
