The LRT Line 1
North Extension Project (Closing the Loop)
Brief Background
The Project involves the
construction of a 5.5-km elevated line from Monumento Station
of Line 1 to North Avenue Station of Line 3, with three (3)
stations namely: Balintawak, Roosevelt
and a Common Station. An additional station (Malvar Station)
in Caloocan City shall, likewise, be constructed.

Commercial Operation of the Balintawak Station
commenced last March 22, 2010, while the Roosevelt Station on October 22, 2010.
For updating of the Feasibility Study of additional station (Malvar Station) by the PMO.
On the Common Station
On 12 January 2012, DOTC directed LRTA to prepare a concept design with the station adjacent to North Ave. and EDSA at the end station of Line 1 and the provision for elevated walkways with walkalators connecting this end station to the North Ave. Station of MRT3.
The concept design based on this directive is now being finalized and is expected to be completed before the end of February 2012.
