The Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) Project  



n Description


This project, which became operational on Sept. 9, 2001, involved the procurement, installation, and commissioning of a distance-proportional AFCS, utilizing the plastic magnetic card as the fare medium to replace the existing token fare collection system in Line 1. AFC equipment consisting of, among others, microcomputers, analyzer-dispenser machines, automatic gates, and encoder-sorter machines were also installed for use with this new fare collection system.

The project is 100% completed and became operational on September 9, 2001.
