The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has extended starting Dec. 15 (Monday) up to Dec. 23 (Tuesday) train operation for its Baclaran-Monumento line to accommodate the influx of passengers.

"The operating time in LRT 1 will be extended for 30 minutes in anticipation of the surge in ridership this holiday season," LRTA Administrator Teddy Cruz, Jr. said.

The last Monumento-bound t rain will depart Baclaran terminal at 9:30 p.m. while the last Baclaran-bound train will leave Monumento at 10 p.m. Normally, the last train trip to Monumento is 9 p.m. and the last train trip to Baclaran is 9:30 p.m.

However, operating time will be reduced by one-and-a-half hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to provide for longer maintenance period for the rolling stock and other vital facilities.

The departure time of the last train from Baclaran terminal will be 7:30 p.m. while the last train will depart Monumento terminal at 8 p.m.

Data obtained from the Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) machines showed that there is relatively low ridership on December 24 and December 31.
