The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has extended
starting Dec. 15 (Monday) up to Dec. 23 (Tuesday) train operation for its
Baclaran-Monumento line to accommodate the influx of passengers.
"The
operating time in LRT 1 will be extended for 30 minutes in anticipation of
the surge in ridership this holiday season," LRTA Administrator Teddy Cruz,
Jr. said.
The last
Monumento-bound t rain will depart Baclaran terminal at 9:30 p.m. while the
last Baclaran-bound train will leave Monumento at 10 p.m. Normally, the last
train trip to Monumento is 9 p.m. and the last train trip to Baclaran is
9:30 p.m.
However,
operating time will be reduced by one-and-a-half hours on Christmas Eve and
New Year's Eve to provide for longer maintenance period for the rolling
stock and other vital facilities.
The departure
time of the last train from Baclaran terminal will be 7:30 p.m. while the
last train will depart Monumento terminal at 8 p.m.
Data obtained
from the Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) machines showed that there
is relatively low ridership on December 24 and December 31.
