Melquiades A. Robles, former
private sector representative in the LRTA Board, today assumes office as
Administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority. In a ceremonial
turn-over at the LRT 1 depot in Pasay City, outgoing Administrator Pacifico
Fajardo turned-over the reins of the agency to Robles.
The event was graced by
Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza, Undersecretary
for Rails Jose Cortes, Jr., MRT 3 General Manager Roberto Lastimoso, DOTC
spokesman Thomas Lantion as well as the department and division managers of
LRTA.
In his farewell speech, Fajardo
thanked the managers and staff of LRTA for their support of his
administration.
For his part, Robles exhorted
the employees to be loyal not to him but to the institution and to their
jobs. “I challenge everyone to help me. Let us work together as a team for
we cannot afford to be divided,” he said.
Mendoza welcomed Robles as he
expressed his appreciation to Fajardo for his contributions to the agency.
After the ceremonial turn-over,
Robles immediately went to work with a series of meetings with the heads of
the different departments and offices for briefing on their individual
concerns. Robles was former Director of the Intercontinental Broadcasting
Corp. and Spokesperson of El Shaddai. He was also a businessman.
