Melquiades A. Robles, former private sector representative in the LRTA Board, today assumes office as Administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority.  In a ceremonial turn-over at the LRT 1 depot in Pasay City, outgoing Administrator Pacifico Fajardo turned-over the reins of the agency to Robles.

The event was graced by Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza, Undersecretary for Rails Jose Cortes, Jr., MRT 3 General Manager Roberto Lastimoso, DOTC spokesman Thomas Lantion as well as the department and division managers of LRTA.

In his farewell speech, Fajardo thanked the managers and staff of LRTA for their support of his administration.

For his part, Robles exhorted the employees to be loyal not to him but to the institution and to their jobs.  ?I challenge everyone to help me.  Let us work together as a team for we cannot afford to be divided,? he said.

Mendoza welcomed Robles as he expressed his appreciation to Fajardo for his contributions to the agency.

After the ceremonial turn-over, Robles immediately went to work with a series of meetings with the heads of the different departments and offices for briefing on their individual concerns.  Robles was former Director of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp.  and Spokesperson of El Shaddai.  He was also a businessman.
