Beginning on December 12, the Light Rail Transit Authority will be launching the first ever rail tourism in the country through its Metro by Rail Project.

The Metro by Rail Project is a campaign that will integrate leisure and educational tours using the LRT Lines 1 and 2, as well as the MRT3, as the main modes of transportation.

The tour is mainly a group tour where participants will be treated to a whole new experience though rail-based adventures, featuring scenic and historic locations, Manila?s urban skyline, and a walkthrough on the LRTA operations, showcasing the newly-installed state-of-the-art technologies on signaling and operations control.

Participants may choose among several packages that would best suit their needs and interests. Tours are accompanied by guides and/or guest lecturers.

Package fees are a minimum of P70.00, subject to change, depending on the package and add-ons chosen. For bookings, interested participants may call the Public Relations Office through telephone numbers 854-0984 and 647-3452.

The project is expected to boost the agency?s non-rail revenue generation as well as serve as an effective avenue to promote more patronage to its line systems, particularly its Recto-Santolan System.
