The signaling system of the entire LRTA Line 1 which runs from Baclaran to Roosevelt Station has been certified safe for operation by Mr. Ulrich Honisch, Overall Assessor Railways of TUV SUD rail GmbH, a German independent safety assessor which was hired to inspect and test it after the successful integration of Balintawak and Roosevelt Stations’ signaling system with that of the existing system.
Mr. Honisch who was also present while the integration work was being done by a team of German signaling engineers from the firm, Transport East West Expert Team International (TEWET), issued a Safety Assesor’s Certificate after a series of tests which he conducted following the system’s integration.
The Safety Assessor’s Certificate was submitted to LRTA Administrator Rafael S. Rodrigez by Mr. George Consuji of DMBT, contractor of Line 1 North Extension Project last Wednesday, June 2, 2011 in the presence of TEWET’s Managing Partner, Mr. Stefan Hofsass.
Prior to system turnover, orientation and hands-on training were conducted for Line 1 Operations Control Center (OCC) personnel and so far, Line 1’s integrated signaling system has been operating smoothly.
