n What is the Metro By Rail Project? |

The Metro by Rail Project is a campaign that will integrate leisure and educational tours using the LRT and MRT rail systems as the main modes of transportation. The tour is mainly a group tour where the participants will be treated a whole new experience through rail-based adventures featuring a view from the top of Manila?s urban landscape and a walkthrough on the LRTA operations, showcasing the newly-installed, state-of-the-art technologies on signalling and operations control. Guides and/or guest lecturers who will provide relevant historic and interesting information about the locations accompany the tours. Aside from the tours, the LRTA will bring
in other rail tourism activities such as the establishment of a rail
museum, rail souvenir shops and a Kids Park and Activity Center in the
Line 2 Depot in Santolan, Pasig City. More rail tourism events and
activities will be set up as the Project progresses. |
| n What are the objectives of Metro By Rail? |
|
Metro by Rail aims to kick off the development of rail tourism in the Philippines. It will help increase public awareness on the benefits of and promote the use of rail transportation. It will also attract economic activities for the localities. The tourists will not only get pleasure from the activities but will also be exposed to various learning experiences. Moreover, through the Metro by Rail Project, we can start building and preserving our country?s rail heritage. Once institutionalized, it will be a source of immense social and economic benefits for our country.

The tours are open to everyone who wish to experience first hand a new brand of tourism that is being developed by the LRTA, which is Rail Tourism.
