A
native of Kawit, Cavite,
Atty. Rafael S. Rodriguez is the 8th Administrator
of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA). He is married to Pearl L.
Rodriguez, also a lawyer with whom he is blessed with three daughters,
Noelle, Elaine and Sofia. As a management practitioner and practicing
lawyer, he has rendered services to various private local and foreign
companies, and institutions including government instrumentalities.
With his wide knowledge
and extensive background in the fields of Commerce and Law, he served as the
Managing Partner of the Rodriguez de los Santos and Naidas Law Offices for
more than 25 years and became the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
of various foreign and local corporations.
Prior to his appointment
as the head of the Authority, Rodriguez was elected as Provincial Board
Member in the first district of Cavite. Under his leadership, he enacted
laws that contributed to the welfare of his province, including the Cavite
Investment Incentives Act and Cavite Tax Reform Act. He was also the
founding Chairman of the Cavite Cooperative Development Council.
Before he entered in the
political affairs, he took the post as Executive Vice-President of the
Interport Resources Development Corporation, a publicly-listed company
engaged in land development from 1995-1998. Further, he worked as
Vice-President of Midland Pacific Development Corporation, Skyland Realty
Development Corporation and Midland Plaza Hotel, a group of companies
engaged in land, condominium and hotel development for 20 years. He likewise
became an Investment Consultant of the BANCOM Development Corporation in the
early 70's. He was also the private counsel of many companies involved in
public infrastructures like sanitary landfill, toll operations and road
construction.
Administrator Rodriguez is
a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Accounting and
Bachelor of Arts, Major in History-Political Science from De la Salle
University (1973) where he received the Jose Rizal Second Honors Award. He
finished his Master in Business Administration with concentration in
Financial Management in the University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon
City (1976). He also got his diploma in Asian Institute of Management in
2000 and took his special studies on Joint Venture and Transfer of
Technology in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1985 sponsored by INSEAD France.
As a working student, he
pursued his Bachelor of Laws at Ateneo de Manila University and passed the
BAR examination in 1983.
And being the new
Administrator of the LRTA, Atty. Rodriguez is determined to fulfill the
Authority's mandate, which is to provide a safe, reliable and efficient mass
railway transit for the riding public.
"Doon
tayo sa matuwid na landas (We shall follow the right path.)" as he
always vows for every Filipino commuter.
